PROGRAMME for SKEGNESS

ENGLISH BOWLING FEDERATION NATIONAL FINALS AT THE SUN CASTLE GREENS NORTH PARADE, SKEGNESS FROM AUGUST 22nd TO 29TH August 2015

The National Finals opened on Saturday with the Under 25 Reg Wright Final. It was a very close game with the result in doubt until the final wood had been bowled. Unfortunately we lost by 3 shots. This was an excellent effort and showed that the County has some very good bowlers coming through to challenge for places in the Senior sides. On Sunday it was the turn of the Newton side to take on Humberside. We made an excellent start and opened up a 15 shot lead after 5 ends and increased it all the way through to finally win by 44 shots. This was the 3rd win in the last 4 years. Great credit to Captain Bob Askey.
A good start to the week with Jonathan West winning his first game in the 4 wood Singles 21- 12.
Dennis Skayman, john Withers and Neil East won 19 - 17 in the 2 Wood Rinks.
Andy Bennett, Graham Teal and Rob Skinner won 14 - 13 in the 3 Wood triples,
The only loss today was Terry Hudson, Joyce and Trevor Bannister in the Mixed Rinks just by 3 shots.
Day 2. Another good day for Lincs with 6 winners from 9.
Jonathan West won 21 - 8 in 4 Bowl Singles,
Trevor Bannister won 21 - 12 in 2 wood singles,
Dennis Skayman, John Withers and Neil East won 20 - 19 in 2 bowl triples,
Andy Bennett, Graham Teal and Rob Skinner won 19 - 9 in 3 wood triples.
Paul Cook won 21 - 14 in Champion of Champions
Maurice Elding and Roger Wing Won 20 - 16 in the Senior Pairs.
Thursday turned out to be our worst day of the week. First on in their first Semi Final were Dennis Skayman, John Withers and Neil East. They were never in the game and lost by 24 – 7. June and Vic Deboer playing for the first time in a National Finals lost 22 – 16 in the Senior Mixed Pairs. Brian Kilby lost 21 – 15 in the Senior Singles. Paul Cook lost 21 – 16 in the Champion of Champions. At last we got a winner when Maurice Elding and Roger Wing won 22 – 16 in Round 2 of the Senior Pairs. Jonathan West won his 2nd Round of the Under 25 Singles 21 – 9. In the 2 Bowl Singles Trevor Bannister lost a very close game 21 – 17 against Humberside. Rob Skinner, Graham Teal and Andy Bennett lost on the last end to the rink of England International Nick Brett 17 – 16. Maria Clarke and Michael Thompson rounded off the day with a 17 – 15 win in the 2nd Round of the Mixed Pairs. So as we move to Friday we still have 4 chances to win National Titles.
