Update Sunday 19th March               from Dennis Skayman

Thanks to all who attended this year’s AGM
Not of to go into loads of detail but it is a bit disappointing that entry into the 2017/18 season are going down.
Everyone says that the outdoor is slowly dying but players are defiantly not moving indoors
Entries for this year’s summer season are as follows
Morning 20 down by 4, Afternoon 9 down by 3, Early Evening 19 down by 1, Wednesday am Aussie Pairs 9 down by 1.
Winter season entries
Morning 74 down by 4, Afternoon 60 down by 1, Earl Evening 59 down by 3, Late Evening 22 down by 5,Sunday morning 26 plus 1, Daytime Aussie Pairs 11 stayed the same, Evening Aussie Pairs 23 down by 2, Ladies fours 14 down by 2, Ladies triples new league 12.
Danny will try to amend some league structure to mitigate the potential loss of revenue. So don’t be surprised to find yourselves playing each other three times or more a season in some leagues.
The winter Sunday mixed league was tried to be resurrected but with only one entry this is not happening.
So if you have any ideas to fill rink space don’t be afraid to propose to management committee.
I have had a couple of people mention ideas.
An EBF type league were player can swap if things are not going well.
Team leagues were the team plays on two rinks and shots are combined to get a result.
A singles and pairs league were each player plays five ends of singles and finish of the time playing pairs.
Just thoughts but all could be looked at to fill rink space to save fees going up.
It was also discussed about the number of games cancelled and rearranged,I am like Danny if we start bringing to many rules into stopping this happening two thing it would be hard to police some things that were suggested ,but also it could end up with more teams dropping out.
Captains remember that teams can reject your request so don’t forget the sub rule and use players from lower leagues. Don’t just cancel because you can’t get your best team out without trying.Your opposition captain has as many phone calls to make to cancel as you.

GRAND PRIX SERIES
Monday 20th March
Wayne Willgress, Greg Harlow, Les Gillett
Are in action.
Tuesday 21st March
Andrew Ware, Janice Gower, Brett Arkley
Are the 3
Play starts at 8.00am on both days.

CAR PARK GATES
I hope you all have noticed the new gates at the entrance to the car park.
Look good don’t they?
This is to help with security.
Gates will close shortly after the club closes on each day and will re open at approximately 6.30 am the next morning.
If you have an away fixture and not off to be back in time use the car park opposite to avoid a taxi fee.
More so on a Sunday with games getting fewer and fewer the club will close early.
