Getting Back to League Action from Danny Brown
|
After what seems like an eternity in lockdown it's time to look ahead! The Government's 'Roadmap' dates give us hope that we may finally be operational again sometime in May and a Sub-Committee has been set up to plan our own roadmap back to League Bowls this Summer.
SUMMER TRIPLES LEAGUES
To resurrect some form of competitive league will not be straightforward, given both the time that has elapsed since the last Summer Leagues and the fact that we have lost a lot of playing members since we last played them!
Our plan is to consult the Team Lists from Summer 2019 and contact the captains on that list. We'll be asking them to get in touch with their fellow squad members and let us know who wishes to participate in Summer Leagues in the MORNING, AFTERNOON and EVENING.
The format for the leagues will be Triples as usual and squads will be strictly limited to SIX players only (including Captains in order to try and grow the number of teams to a worthwhile number.
We want entries from:
- Exisiting teams (who played in 2019)
- Individuals who's teams may have disintegrated but who would still like to play in whichever League in another team.
- New Teams - If you have a group of up to 6 that would like to play, please let us know.
HOW DO WE ENTER A TEAM (OR AS AN INDIVIDUAL)?
Captains who's email addresses are known will receive an email over the next few days. If we don't have an email address, we'll give you a call instead.
Individuals who are not assigned to any existing teams and would like to play can email me (danny@lincolnibc.co.uk) and I'll find you all a team.
SUMMER LEAGUES will play from June 2021 to the end of August 2021.

NEW - INDIVIDUAL LEAGUE 'LADDERS'
As well as the usual Leagues, we want to trial an INDIVIDUAL LEAGUE LADDER idea which, if successful, will give players a chance to play during weekdays - possibly alongside the leagues - without needing to join a team.
The idea is that we ask people to commit to a given session for six weeks in a row. (say for example, a Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 - 4.30pm) Upon arrival the pool of players will play Triples and draw for their partners for that day and individual's scores will be logged over the 6 week duration to determine the 'Champion'. This format enables any newer players in particular to play in prime sessions, to integrate into the club and get to know more people very quickly. At the end of each six week period we'll ask again who wishes to play over the following 6 weeks and take players from a waiting list to replace anyone who doesn't wish to continue.
If at any point you can't make it having committed to the 6 weeks, all we ask is that you arrange a sub to play in your place for that week.
