Planning for Restart from Sue Johnston
|
Here behind the scenes at LIBC we are still working hard to make sure as soon as we are allowed to offer indoor bowling we do it in the safest ways possible.
Obviously there will be standards we are told to meet but we are also setting out some procedures in addition to structural changes to make it easier. Training and appropriate protection will be available for our staff. You may not know but our regularly serviced air conditioning exchange system is designed to bring fresh air in to the building at regular intervals rather than simply recirculating the existing internal air. There will be additional screens installed at the bar. Additional enhanced cleaning schedules are being drawn up and we are looking at sanitising enhancements to door handles and plates.
There will be a one way system in place for bowlers to access, exit and move round the building inside. You will only enter the building within 15min of your start time and be encouraged to leave promptly after play. Access to the changing areas or lockers, other than an initial booked visit to collect contents, will not be allowed, you will arrive ready to play (except changing shoes), bringing bowls etc with you. There will be a one in one out access to toilets. The wearing of mouth/nose covering will be required as we re-open.
Facilities will be provided for the cleaning/disinfection of mats and jacks and there will be an interval between booked sessions to allow additional cleaning to take place. Additional changes for the handling of mats, jacks, bowls and other equipment and accessories will be fully compliant with the most updated EIBA guidance.
Rinks will have to be pre-booked, contactless payment will be preferred; we are considering options to purchase a “block ticket” of hours, checked off when you play.
We are looking towards a phased re-opening with reduced building occupancy, roll-up or singles play moving towards pairs, triples, rink play, on initially alternate rinks as the rules and risk allows. There will initially be no access for non players as we will have no facilities for them in the early phases. The bar and restaurant areas will be considered further as rules allow.
We fully accept that these measures impact on the social nature of bowling and our Club ethos, but would like to initiate some return to our sport, encourage exercise and the chance to meet friends again in a safe way. It will be a more sparse environment for a time but if we can all continue to work together on this we can make progress towards full return to social and competitive bowling.
As a footnote - If you have any comments or further ideas you feel we should take on board, please contact Danny on danny@lincolnibc.co.uk. or contribute via our facebook page.
