Shoes must be changed to go outside, and changed back again before stepping onto the bowling surface. Do not arrive in your bowls shoes – change into them once inside the building.

    DRESS

Dress shall be predominately white above the waist for all league matches and competitions. Failure to comply will lead to elimination from the competition. Predominately white above the waist will apply for all evening sessions Mon-Fri and all day Saturdays and Sundays.

The dress rule also applies to the Summer Leagues and competitions.

Members are not allowed to play in denim jeans, tracksuit bottoms, or vests at any time. Only tailored shorts may be worn in the summer months.

    CLUB SHIRTS

With the exception of Friendly Matches only, all players in teams representing the club shall be required to wear a club shirt (men, ladies & juniors). These can be purchased at the bar.

Please note that the very latest Club Shirt (with sponsor’s logo) is for club representative/team use only and cannot be worn in League matches.

The wearing of the previous (older) design of club shirts is permitted in League matches

    BOTTLES OF OIL & GRIPPO

Bottles of oil and any other substance used for grip that may leave marks on the carpet are definitely not allowed.

All bags must be left in the changing rooms. Bags must not be left at the end of the rinks – This constitutes a Health & Safety hazard.

    SMOKING

We operate a no smoking policy and smoking is forbidden inside the club. This includes the doorways/entrance lobby. Members are reminded to change footwear if going outside and to change footwear again before entering onto the playing surface.

    DIRECTION OF PLAY

Play will commence at the car park end of the green. Bowls must be carried and not bowled to the starting end.

    HAND RAILS

The hand rails have been fitted to assist members entering and leaving the playing surface over the bank. Please use the rails to reduce the risk of tripping when entering and alighting the green.

    GREEN FEES

All green fees must be paid at the bar before commencement of the session. A score card will be issued for league and competition matches.

It is recommended that members check the availability of roll-up rinks by telephone on (01522) 526237 prior to setting off to avoid a wasted journey.

Players must enter their own name only on the Rink Board.

Players already playing in a session are not allowed to enter their names on the Rink Board for a roll-up session immediately following. If however, roll up rinks are not full, they may continue to play.

Roll-ups can be booked for one hour, but only if players are not preventing other members booking for two hours.

Two rinks will be specifically allocated to Roll-Ups at 12:30pm one day a week.

    LEAGUE RULES

    1.

Only full members of the Club are eligible to participate in League matches.

    2.

Players may not play for more than one team in each league (subject to rule 32 – Floaters)

    3.

Players may be allowed to transfer from one team to another at the discretion of the League Committee, but not after 31st December during the season in progress.

    4.

There will be an entry fee for each participating team.

    5.

Each League game will consist of 18 ends or 2 hours except the Triples Leagues which will be 16 ends or 2 hours.

    6.

A bell will signal the end of each session. Providing that the mat has been correctly placed and the jack cast by the lead standing on the mat, the end shall be completed. In the event of a miscast, the jack shall be recast by the opposing lead. In the event of a further miscast, the jack shall be placed on the spot and the lead originally casting shall place the mat where he/she requires within the laws of the game. In the event of a dead end, the end will not be replayed and the match shall be regarded as finished.

    7.

In the event of a game being delayed, due for instance to a competition running over time because of an extra end, an individual clock may be set to 1 hour 55 minutes and play will begin as soon as the rink is free.

    8.

    No trial ends are permitted.

    9.

Any team fielding an ineligible player shall forfeit the match to the opposition.

    10.

It is not permitted to play 3s up at the head. To avoid time wasting and to complete the fullest number of ends, skips may only visit the head once per end.

    11.

Two points will be awarded to the winning team with one point to each for a draw.

    12.

In the event of two or more teams being level on points at the completion of the League programme, the winner will be decided on shot difference. If shot difference is also equal, the team with the most shots will be the winner. The top three teams will be promoted and the bottom three teams relegated in normal circumstances (subject to rule 13).
